Doing Procurement Better 3 Mar, 2016
A broad range of industry representatives turned out for an Industry Workshop hosted recently by the Goods and Services Branch, CMTEDD and the Canberra Business Chamber. There was strong goodwill in the room, with industry enthusiastic about speaking directly to Government and keen to continue engagement on goods and services procurement reform.
Interactive discussion at the Workshop was guided by an online survey completed by almost 200 business owners in advance. Common themes and priorities for industry included:
the need for more information/visibility around panels;
more specific, detailed written feedback which contains practical meaningful information so companies can improve in the next tender process;
a single/central portal so companies only have to provide information once;
improved visibility around government decision-making, and
being able to interact directly with government (including not just when tenders are open).
Feedback obtained through facilitated sessions will be incorporated into goods and services procurement strategies and actions going forward.
